My Story
Welcome to my Scentsy site! First, I would like to tell you about myself and then how I came into Scentsy. I currently live in the DFW area with my toy poodle, Sam, who is very spoiled and thinks he owns me. He keeps me laughing all the time with his OCD tendencies and general mischief. I am not originally from TX; I was born and raised in a town outside of Boston, Mass., where my parents had settled after college to help start a church in the area. In the late 80s my family moved to TX where we all still live, except for my sister, who lives in Scotland. I was raised in the Church of Christ and attended ACU, graduating in 1994 with a degree in Early Childhood Education. Today I currently work as a System Analyst for Citi. Which is light years from my degree, but I found it was hard to live and pay bills on a pre-school teacher salary, so now I use my passion for teaching by volunteering as a teacher at my church. So now to Scentsy. A couple of years ago my friend Jessica at work had just come back from Maternity leave and I was just getting ready to go on medical leave when she told me she was going to start selling Scentsy. At that time I knew what Scentsy was, scented wax that you melted, but that was really all I could tell anyone, if asked and I was not really interested because I am (was) a Yankee Candle fan. A couple of months later I was visiting a friend in Kansas City and she had several warmers throughout her house including a plug-in in her daughter’s bathroom. Throughout the weekend, I saw the advantage of having a plug-in in the bathroom, it acted like a night light, it did not take up counter space and the small amount of wax was not overpowering. When I got back, I remember telling Jessica that was I interested in buying some plug-ins but that I wanted to start with some mild scents. I think the first ones I ordered were lavender and a vanilla scent. Since that time I have come to enjoy a wider range of the scents, such as Honey Pear Cider, Black Raspberry Vanilla, and Perfectly Pomegranate. This past holiday I fell in love with several of the full size warmers that Scentsy had to offer. It was during this time that I decided to take the plunge and start selling Scentsy myself.
